Chonburi is home to Thailand's largest tourist-oriented city, Pattaya, as well as to Thailand's largest and primary seaport. Due to these factors, the province's population is growing rapidly. Chonburi sits on the Bay of Bangkok at the northern end of the Gulf of Thailand. Apart from its famous beaches, Chonburi also features many forest covered hills towards the north which provide plenty of outdoor activities.
Although the north is mountainous, Rayong province consists mostly of low coastal plains and beautiful tropical islands in the Gulf of Thailand, including Koh Samet, Koh Mun, and Koh Khod. Months of monsoon rains allow lush forests as well as fruit orchards to cool down from the heat of the day, providing harvests during May of each year.
Trat Province is a popular travel region in Eastern Thailand, mostly for the beautiful Koh Chang island group with its long white sandy beaches and unspoiled coral reefs. To the east, the Khao Banthat mountain range forms the border to Cambodia, and Trat is a popular border crossing point to Cambodia's Koh Kong province.
